Genuine antique french linen sheet which would make a wonderful tablecloth, bedspread, summer blanket, beach towel or curtain.

The hems have been hand stitched by whomever made it originally. It is made from two pieces of linen stitched together down the middle. In the early 1900s when this was made it was only possible to weave the linen to the maximum width allowed by the loom. Therefore to make large pieces such as sheets two strips had to be hand sewn together. The seam is clearly visible in the pictures.

There is an embroidery of two initials done by hand of the letters M P. With the number 8 below.
This is likely to have been part of a wedding set.

The antique linen drapes beautifully. This cloth could be used as a tablecloth but also as a bedspread, summer blanket or even curtain.

It was sourced in Burgundy, France.

Antique linen such as this adds instant rustic charm and elegance to a home. The linen is beautifully relaxed and you can choose to wash and dry it and use it as is or iron it for a more crisp look.

You will receive the cloth freshly laundered.

I would call it white but it is not a pure brilliant white, more of a chalky/antique white. There is also some ecru/beige speckles. This is normal and due to the age of the fibres. It may whiten if washed with whitening agents.

There is also some thinning of the cloth in a couple of places. See pictures.

There may be signs of wear and use on the cloth due to is age and vintage nature. These have been detailed above. They are normal and not considered a defect.
