An Antique hemp linen sheet with a simple red embroidered LC
This hemp sheet has been well loved and washed which has relaxed the hemp and given it the lovely grain sack appearance of a farmhouse style cloth.
It is thick and heavy and drapes beautifully without really creasing.
It is straw beige in colour.
Hemp fabric of this style was grown, processed, loomed and woven on family farms. Antique home looms were narrow, approx. 1m wide and so to make large sheets and home linens to panels were sewn together down the length.
The cloth has the grain sack effect, loosely woven.
This would have been part of a ladies wedding trousseau.
There is some black staining on one edge which has been pictured.
The sheet has been fully laundered. It may display signs of wear due to its age which are not considered defects.
Gorgeous used for curtains, table cloth, sheet or bedspread
It measures 200x245cm
