A gorgeous, heavy linen sheet.
This is relatively loose woven linen, likely made on a farm on a family loom. It is soft, heavy and drapes beautifully. It's a lovely off-white colour.
Antique linen looms used by families on farms were narrow, approx. 1m wide and so to make large widths for sheets two panels had to be sewn together down the middle. That is the case with this sheet which has a line of sewing running down the length.
The letter L is embroidered on one side. This would have been part of a ladies wedding trousseau and her husbands initial would have been added on the other side.
Either this lady decided not to marry or perhaps never got around to embroidering the other side:)
This is a lovely natural textile. It it heavy and feels warm in winter and cool in summer.
These are beautiful used as sheets, bedspreads, table cloths, curtains
It measures 210 x 270cm
This is an antique textile dating from the early 20th century and as such may show signs of wear which are not considered defects.
