This is an antique hemp sheet hand embroidered with the initials LC.
The cloth is tightly woven. I believe it was part of a wedding trousseau but wasn't used or washed very much. Hemp will naturally relax and soften with use but this has stayed tight and relatively stiff. It feels a little like canvas.
It was hand woven on a farm and is made of two panels sewn together down the length. Hand embroidered simple letter L C in red thread.
The top and bottom hem are simple and hand stitched. The sheet is a light straw colour and will whiten and soften with washing.
The sheet measures 210x295cm
Ideal to use on a bed, as curtains or as a table cloth
This is an antique textile and as such may show signs of wear. It has been fully laundered but any signs of wear are not considered defects.
